Consumer Operated and Oriented
We are an alliance of 501(C)(29) not-for-profit consumer operated and oriented organizations, established through the Affordable Care Act delivering healthcare to the people of New Jersey, New York and Oregon.
Our members are the majority
51% of our board of directors will be made up of people who are members of our insurance program.
Quality provider network
We are working to develop a high quality network of providers, hospitals, labs and imaging centers.
We have no private shareholders.
We do not distribute profits to any investors.
Our focus is where it should be - on helping our members stay healthy and succeed in their goals. Every decision we make, benefit we offer and solution we develop works to serve that purpose.
A storied history of community building and advocacy
Health Republic is an idea of the Freelancers Union. Freelancers Union has been advocating for the rights of independent workers and underrepresented Americans since 1995 as well as providing insurance for more than 24,000 members in the New York City metropolitan area.
To ensure consistent high quality healthcare for all Americans, the Affordable Care Act requires insurance companies to accept everyone who applies for coverage. Beginning in 2014 health insurance will be available to all Americans regardless of pre-existing conditions or financial situation. This ensures that you and your family have coverage in the event of major illness or accident.
Open market for Healthcare
Beginning on October 1, 2013, with coverage starting in January 2014, public exchanges or health insurance marketplaces will offer individual health plans with five standard benefit levels.
Tax credits & subsidies
If you purchase health insurance coverage through a public exchange, you may be eligible for assistance through subsidies.
